Just read a pop psychology book called "Emotional Intelligence" which was quite depressing, as it told me "Peff, you have a high IQ but you didn't do very well in school because your social skills are whack and everyone thought you were a weirdo. In the future, your lack of hope and tendency to err on the pessimistic side will mean you will never achieve your full potential in anythng you undertake."

psychologists are pessimists.... there is no such thing as love and if you have a child you will fuck it up.

If ever you are feeling a bit too happy or optimistic about life then read "Knots" by KD Lang - very good but it does make not want to talk to anyone for a while - 3 weeks

Portnoy's Complaint. The best, funniest book about being a guilt-ridden Jew obsessed with masturbation since... The last one.
It looks all classy on the outside, with all these newspaper reviews. But I felt like a dirty old man reading it on the train.

"The Da Vinci Code"
And I saw an anti-Da Vinci Code book in Waterstone's today, which is apparently indespensible for Christians and says "No, no, of course we weren't lying to you, Jesus really did remain celibate and never had any children, and all that oppression of women stuff is made up, you're happy in the kitchen aren't yo, ladies?"
I paraphrase slightly.

I went to the library today and was very good! I took out some books on cinema - Hong Kong cinema, French Nouvelle Vague, Post-War Italian, Feminist films and a book about fetish fashion for bedtime.

I'm reading Lolita.
I got an awesome deal though, that I must brag about. All the Penguin "Great Ideas" books, 20 of them very nicely presented including: "The Social Contract", "Vinidication of the Rights of Women", "The Coommunist Manifesto".
FIFTEEN QUID.
