We need a heated debate! Nicole, Lauren, etc... we used to have such intelligent conversations during out lunch times which i will miss a lot! But for now - someone think of a topic we could debate about. We are not just quirkly random people - we are in fact intelligent beings with important view points and rather a large amount of free time to kill. So I say we show the world how interesting we are in a vain attempt to stop this board from degenerating into a mass of random/ pointless comments about tv and hair and clothes.

No no. We never debate the fox hunting thing. Here's a possible list:
Euthanasia Abortion Drugs/Alcohol - I'd go for this personally seeing as I'd say we're pretty 50/50 on this board. Religion Reality TV
Plus- if we do these debates it would probably really really help with my Engligh A level next year.

Drugs/Alcohol - I'd go for this personally seeing as I'd say we're pretty 50/50 on this board. ok then. I'm fine with alcohol as long as its not abused. no pointless binging and damaging yourself or hangovers, but I don't have a problem with a bit here and there. Plus some drinks are nice and its good to enjoy things you like every now and then, such as chocolate etc. I can also see why other people may avoid it completely avoid it, as alcohol can do a lot more damage than its worth, and it must be good to make stand on things like that. if people didn't abuse it then we wouldn't have those problems I guess. as for drugs (or other drugs If you like because alcohol is a type of drug). I've never done them, but I think I can understand why people do. either just for the thrill or escapism. I don't have a problem with escapism, afterall we spend most of our lives escaping from reality by one means or another(music being a massive one for me) Although its pretty pointless escaping when you are damaging yourself. and we are told that drugs are more dangerous than alcohol. Its up to the individual what they want to do with their life, but they should know the risks, and should never ruin their life just because of peer pressure or whatever. the biggest downer on alcohol and drugs for me is that they make people forget how to really live, and become dependant on them for a good time, which they will eventaully get bored of. things like music, friendships, dare I say it - love, doesn't work like that. although they do cause need for escapsim when those things go wrong. but using things that on the long term bring you down and get you addicted for escapism is pointless. I also cannot stand the way cigarretes and nicotene are tolerated by society. they are still by far the biggest killers of all drugs yet companies are allowed to make billions out of peoples addictions, killing them eventually. increasing their dependency on escapism in general. anyway, I've just rambled loads. apologies

tom! damn your ace attitude towards it all, i can hardly argue with any of that :/ i agree with all of it except for a few points! "I also cannot stand the way cigarretes and nicotene are tolerated by society"i agree but, i think alcohol is also far to tolerated in society, it causes so much violence and sexual harrasment etc etc, and western society in general seems to of taken it with open arms into its culture. which is abit crappy :/ personally i feel that smoking weed -occasionally- with a few friends while listening/playing/creating music is totally lovely. problems do come though in the form of people smoking to much of it and it making them sluggish, slow, stuttery forgetful and in some cases depressed.! yes .

I think people over-generalise when it comes to alcohol. It's true that a portion of the population do become a risk to themselves and others when drinking heavily, but there is also a large majority who simply have a laugh, don't do anyone else any harm and don't have any thing to regret the morning after. As long as no one abuses alcohol then everything's fine, although I do accept that this isn't going to happen on a worldwide scale and is an 'in a perfect world' scenario.
When it comes to drugs, I think that using is not a problem, it's when people are forced into it by others that I believe it is wrong. Everyone can try drugs if they really feel the need, as long as they are aware of the risks and are responsible for their own actions. It would be nice if we lived in a drug-free world, but it also wouldn't be the same, for a start, we wouldn't have Alice In Wonderland, and that really would be a great loss to society.

i believe that each choice, either to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes or take drugs, is up to each individual, so long as no others are put in harms way. i also strongly believe that drugs, fags and alcohol should have tighter laws so they do not fall into the hands of people below the legal age (even tho i did start smoking at about 13) but other than that i cant say anymore coz i'll get molly killing me 4 being a hypocrite! oh and btw if u see any bright bright yellow splatters anywhere in aylesbury then thats me, i have mild alcohol poisining and the yellow puke proves that

I don't personally do any drugs in the form of alcohol/cigarettes/whatever. Sometimes people who do do this make me angry as i feel they are being total idiots. we have to sit through these fucking lessons about it and then they go 'hey, lets go have a fag'. It just appears like they have no braincells and it's so tiresome. It just appears so pathetic. But in some ways i dont mind people doing them and dont care, as it is their life, but thats only because i think 'well, we are such pointless beings, why the fuck shouldnt you go and kill yourself, there isnt a single human being alive with a reason for existance, so fuck it.' so if you want to, go do it, but dont fucking whine and make a big deal out of it. thats pisses the crap out of me. Also, i hate the way people assume that as i dont do these things i will kill them for doing it, and will preach at them. i can't be bothered to waste my energy, and the thing that annoys me and the reason i do get pissed off about it is as they appear to make such a big deal out of it and are so pathetic about it. Humans suck. We are such self-indulgant wasteless pointless beings.

I do like some human beings, but it doesn't stop our existance being utterly pointless.

The only thing that annoys me is when people of completely sound health mess themselves up by choice. (not making much sense ). I think that it is everyone's choice obviously, but sometimes the individual should think of other people and their feelings. Parents, for example, have a commitment to their children to look after them, so in that situation getting pissed and stoned is completely wrong and selfish. Especially if you have young kids. Fine- if you want to have a good time in that way - it's up to you. If you want to kill yourself or slice up your arms to escape- then fine - do it. BUT, you can't always think entirely about yourself. I don't want to sound high and mighty but I have too much respect for my mum and dad and friends to go around damaging myself. It's not fair on them.

but sometimes the individual should think of other people and their feelings. . yeh I agree with that. if you didn't think of others feelings you'd only end up hurting yourself anyway.

Ok, woo. Well done ya'll. I think we've successfully prooved that there's more to the IofM board than writing 43 pages worth of words that are some how......... assosiated to each other.......... Let's debate more stuff! Any ideas or shall we just sit around and wait until Tom chooses.......?
