Personally I prefer Hollyoaks; crap that is at least low budget and so can amuse us all with the crappy standard of acting and script writing.
The OC they actually bothered to put money into and if it wasn't on a Sunday evening I would probably have only seen one episode of

The fact is that The OC, like Hollyoaks, is on at one of those times when we are most vulnerable to being sucked into bad television - half 6 on a sunday evening is a perfect example. Most people are feeling apathetic, and are not looking forward to Monday. They realise they are unable to turn off the TV and let the drama wash over them. It then becomes an unfortunate habit... There are a lot of things I dislike about The OC, yet I find myself drawn into it every week, despite the unrealistic behaviour of the characters and their exagerrated maturity / attractiveness.

i'm pretty much convinced that love and hate are almost the same thing. and this describes my feelings towards the oc. the characters are actually hideous! as are most of the plots. some of the script is good. but it's just terrible in a wonderful way. i hate the way everyone stares vacantly instead of saying stuff like "hello". but seriously, what else do you do on a sunday? we should have another picnic!!
i want ice cream.

I never watch bad TV.
And most of it is bad.

I think I've watched about 1 and a half episodes of the OC... erm.... it's better than Dawson's Creek.
I forgot that Becky signed up to this board... She never posted much, damn her!

There's a part of me that loves Seth Cohen. He's so dreamy.

I heard that one of the characters had a lesbian kiss... and then surprisingly STAYS gay!
This is a leap forward in soap operas if true...

Nope, doesn't stay gay. Just a prolonged sweeps stunt.

Indeed it is. I believe that the coupling in Buffy [though I am the only person in the world who didn't watch it] remains network TVs longest lesbian relationship.
Six Feet Under featured a brief fling. Then there's The L Word, of course. But female homosexuality remains hidden from the viewing public.
